I need a job

2010-02-15 22:45:56 by Serenity-Starlight

Can a 15 year old legally get a work permit in California?

And what kind of job would you suggest would let me earn enough to pay for school supplies and clothes and shit like that?
And, no i'm not even gonna test the waters of commissions because my drawings suck and commissions don't work.

My parents apparently don't feel like supporting me anymore so I basically steal their food or eat at a friend's house.

At what age can I get a work permit?

Minors aged 12 through 17 are required to get work permits before starting a job. A minor under the age of 12 cannot receive a work permit except in the entertainment industry. There are a few exceptions to these rules. No work permit is required for the following jobs: 1) certain agricultural industry jobs, 2) odd jobs in private homes such as gardening and babysitting, 3) newspaper delivery jobs, 4) casual work in a family-owned business, and 5) self-employment.

your drawings suck, yeah right.
just look at them, they tell me so much about the time, talent, and quality you put into your artwork :)

and about that job, after you get your work permit, try going for a coffee shop or somewhere thats kinda small and not very busy for a first time job. you dont want to work at a shit-hole like mcdonalds first time through. its hot, everything is fast paced, and you cant hear a damn thing. a quiet relaxed job is the best :3

Serenity-Starlight responds:

Awwh, well my drawings aren't exactly very good yet :L I should have started drawing earlier in life.

Coffee shops sound super cute, maybe a pet store too :D
Ugh I hate Mcdonalds, When I think of all the fat i'm putting into my body it's like having a mouthful of salt and soy sauce.

>.> Your drawings suck?? So far i have liked all 5 i have seen of yours and would you like to know what i am good at drawing? Letters and stick figures, i am a BEAST stick figure artist..... so yea, you ROCK, and so do your drawings. Also... about the job thing... deliver news papers, i was making like $170 on my route that took me a hour to do, besides getting up early on sat and sunday, it is such an easy job for the money you make. And hell, you might be making even more because i haven't delivered since i was like 12, and that was 8 years ago so yea, depending on the route size and how much more money they pay now, you should be making anywhere from 150-300. Very easy money.
